Dorset has some of Britain's finest beaches. Sandbanks is gorgeous. It can be busy in the high days of summer in which case we can suggest some less well known spots near Lulworth Cove and Bridport. The fossils near Lyme Regis are fascinating.  The Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock is a great favourite because of its award winning cafe, serving great local fish.

There is strong musical tradition in Dorset, especially round Orchard Farmhouse Organic Bed and Breakfast.  Classical festivals are of a very high standard at the Sherborne, Plush and Cerne Abbas festivals.  Poole Lighthouse and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are highly respected.  Folk music features all over the place - favourites are the Budapest Cafe Orchestra who come to this area every year.  There is even a Boogie Woogie festival in Sturminster.  In August is the Milton Abbas Festival in the beautiful abbey.

Sturminster Newton has an excellent venue called The Exchange.  It attracts famous musicians such as John Williams.

Please come and stay and make this your base for drawing and painting the Dorset landscape.
