Piano
We have a piano (Irmler) in our lounge; guests are welcome to play on it, although we do kindly ask that only children who are learning the piano may play on it.
Guitar
For the budding John Williams or Rodrigo, there is a guitar you are welcome to use. Again, we do kindly ask that only children who are learning the guitar play it.
Your own musical instrument
Do bring your own musical instrument to practise. Obvoiusly we ask that you respect the peace of other guests if there is someone else staying with us.
Short recital by Joanna
Our daughter, Joanna, occasionally offers a recital to guests. Trained at Purcell School and now at Junior Guildhall, she is an accomplished violist and singer. She is a member of the National Youth Orchestra.
Concerts in the area
We keep in touch with classical concerts in the area and can let you know what's on. There is a strong tradition of folk music in the area too. The Exchange at Sturminster Newton hosts many famous artists. Classical music features in many festivals including Sherborne, Milton Abbas, Cerne Abbas and at Plush. There is also an excellent Music Summer School at Sherborne in August.
