We have a specials blackboard.  You never know what might be on it!

Specials

Specials could be anything from duck eggs to a Tanzanian Porridge, a special tea or special cakes.  Perhaps a special loaf featuring sesame seeds or hemp seeds.  They are options as a change from the normal English breakfast.

Fresh fruit salad is turning up more and more.  We also have ideas on test using apples, blackcurrants and blackberries such as a fruit compote to compliment plain yoghurt.

Nettle and goosegrass tea?  In springtime it is surprisingly refreshing.

How about a mushroom omellete?  We can do it the French way if you wish.

Or a spanish omelette (with onion), well cooked.

The Brazilian breakfast, made with avocado, creme fraiche and agave syrup turns up sometimes, so does the Japanese - but order in advance if you want the sticky rice with it.  We are trying Shoyu soya sauce at the moment.

We have strawberries grown in the garden that are organic .  Raspberries are coming along too but it might be next year before they are well established.  We hope the rhubarb and the wild strawberries are going to feature in 2012.

Another thing in development is the Andalusian, to be made with our own tomatoes and home made bread.

Plans for the veg patch are moving ahead so that we have more garlic, more greens, redcurrants perhaps.

Then there are the sloes.  They are organic this year.

Damsons and plum trees need another year to establish but are looking well.
