Pubs and restaurants in North Dorset
There are a variety of excellent places to eat in North Dorset. Another Taste of Dorset award winner is the Gaggle of Geese at Buckland Newton for its community spirit. Very nearby is the Green Man which was a finalist. For a good value traditional pub with reliable pub food the Bull at Sturminster Newton is recommended.
If you are looking for a restaurant, The Green in Sherborne is getting good reports from our guests. The chef is serious about buying locally and avoiding GM.
The Cafe Baglioni in Sherborne, under a little arch up the main street, is friendly and is getting good reviews from our guests. Not always open so we will book for you.
When out touring there are other places we can recommend, such as the Brewers Arms at Martinstown and the Salt Pig at Wareham for a light lunch. The New Inn at Cerne Abbas is a popular lively pub with a good atmosphere and serving good food.
The pub in our own village, the Antelope, serves reasonable food and beer.
For Sunday lunch you cannot beat the Fox at Ansty. The carvery is very generous.
We are happy to book a table for you in advance of your stay with us if you wish.
